However, for many disorders, even taking ample rest is adequate to eliminate or atleast to reduce the magnitude of the disease. Disorders like joint pains can be eliminated or brought to a minimum level with the help of adequate rests to the joints.

Rest Means

Often, joint pains occur when they are under excess pressure or constant strain. Working in the office or on the field for long hours can lead to severe joint pains. Joint pains particularly affect people who sit in one place for too long and work strenuously continuously. Hence, in such times it is advised for the individual to take some rest and then return to work. Hence, after working at the computer or the work desk for a long time, the individual must take a break. This would give sufficient rest to the joints in the wrists, back and neck and they would be ready to face further work load. Hence, every weekend, people who have a very hectic work profile must take time off and relax and give the joints a break from the heavy pressure. Also, people must never compromise on the sleep even if they have high work pressure. Atleast a minimum of 6-8 hours of sleep is required for the body to rest and recharge. Even for the joints, this rule applies. They must stretch out on the bed or on the floor to ensure that the joints are stretched out and all the stiffness is driven out.

While doing exercises like walking, yoga, tai chi and other exercises for relieving joint pain, individuals must sit down for sometime and relax. They can even lie down so that the joints get enough rest after all the flexing and stretching has been done. Over-exerting can greatly affect the joints and instead of removing the pain, the exercises would result in increasing the joint pain. Hence, while taking walks, sitting on a nearby bench for a few minutes helps a great deal for the joints to relax.
